What is Royal Rebozoway? Who founded it?
Royal Rebozoway is an online rebozo training website in order for you to learn "Mexican shawl" rebozo techniques for doula work and beyond. Founder Page is here to learn more.
What is a Rebozo Anyway?
A rebozo is a Mexican shawl average length is around 6 feet (this is what we send out usually if you buy one from us). Secondly, the shawls do not have to be made in Mexico--but the origins come from this country. Women use to wear them and carry their babies in them. The tradition of using them in pregnancy is kind of unknown, but we do know is in more recent years midwives and doulas have been learning the techniques passed on by other midwives. So, you might say you are learning a "hand tradition" when you work with the rebozo. We hope you will enjoy learning this beautiful tradition to help your clients or other mothers.
What are the basic requirements for me to get started in the course? (Reading info is in this answer).
The basic requirements are: 1. Good working computer -- be able to access our Blackboard classroom. 2. We also have an optional Facebook Group. 3. Be able to PURCHASE and READ "The Nurturing Touch at Birth" Book. 4. Be able to find two friends to help you with picture taking. You will need one to take photos and the other one to be your "pretend" or real pregnant mother to work with for skill techniques. 5. Be able to read English.
Is there more than one Certificate?
We have changed it back -- you can get a certificate for EACH LEVEL; but we highly recommend that you do all levels in order to have full training. We unfortunately, will not be able to offer level three until fall. We have had to take a break from this for personal and "busy schedule" reasons. We will definitely have something available by fall. Thank you. So, for now -- you can take the two courses.
What are the Certification Requirements for the Courses?
We will go over what we require for the Level One "Eva' and Level Two "Matron-Sarah" below: 1. Do all skills in the 2 levels. 2. Fill out skill sheets for the skills that you did with a friend/partner/pregnant mom. 3. Take pictures of all your skills work. Note: There are a few skills we skip -- so please pay attention to this esp. Level Two. Make sure you have a friend to participate and a friend to take pictures. 4. Watch all the videos in the course. You will have some required "video reviews' in the course modules. Please turn in reviews to classroom. 5. Quizzes -- There are quizzes in both levels -- pass with 80% or better or re-take again as needed. 6. Turn in a Book Review for "Nurturing Touch at Birth" at least 500 words (can be turned in at Level Two). 7. Follow Discussions on our forum and post required discussion boards. 8. Once you have done all of above -- You may submit a "request for certificate". We will email you one within 48 hours of your request (working days-- weekends requests may take longer). 9. Since we have changed our rules again -- you may apply for certificate for EACH LEVEL. The above rules are the same for both levels. Thank you.
Is there a Membership Fee Requirement?
For a limited time we are waiving the Membership Fee when you enroll. You will automatically get our discounted rates for the first year. If you drop out and come back later, then you may have to pay a membership fee at that time; so try to not do that!!! Our membership rate for normal coursework is going to be simply $25 a year. However, again, we are waving that for now. The membership will save you 20%-30% off future things. We may offer a Teacher Training and if you can finish your coursework before a year is up--then you can get a discount on the Teacher Training too.
What are the Course Rates right now for "Members only" (Free membership)
As of May 16, 2017 -- We are planning the follow "Members Only" rates: $99 for First Level Enrollment, $75 for Second Level Enrollment, and $65 for Third Level Enrollment. If you want a rebozo included for First Level; you will need to add in $25 for 6 foot and $50 for 9 foot rebozo. We found some 9 foot rebozos, but they come from Guatemala and they do "fair trade' pricing on them. Occasionally we will run a free rebozo special but this is for the 6 foot kind only. Thank you. Note: Our pricing is subject to change without notice; however, we think the above will stay for at least a year.
